Claudia Balducci

Education: J.D., Columbia University School of Law; B.A., Providence College
Occupation: Bellevue Mayor, Sound Transit Boardmember, Attorney, Former County Jails Director

The Eastside is dynamic, diverse and growing. Much has changed in 20 years since the incumbent was elected as a partisan Republican. It’s time for change at the County Council to reflect our Eastside values and priorities.

As Bellevue Mayor and Sound Transit Boardmember, I built consensus, bringing light rail to Bellevue and Redmond.  I pressed for successful 520 and 405 investments, and am working on improved Mercer Island and Kirkland transit options. As Councilmember, I’ll prioritize regional mobility and further expand light rail.

As Mayor, I protected neighborhoods and proudly supported innovative Eastside businesses and startups. At the County, I’ll invest in our communities and safeguard cherished agricultural lands and open space.

I’ll bring an important perspective as the Council’s only public school mom and advocate for Eastside schools.  I’m a longtime criminal justice leader and champion for mental illness treatment and domestic violence prevention.

Endorsed: Executive Dow Constantine; US Representatives Adam Smith, Suzan DelBene; State legislators Cyrus Habib, Joan McBride, Ross Hunter, Tana Senn, Judy Clibborn; Mayors of Mercer Island, Woodinville, Medina, Issaquah; elected officials districtwide; Bellevue Firefighters; WA Conservation Voters; County Labor Council; 1st, 41st, 45th, 48th, and County Democrats; Cascade Bicycle Club; NARAL; & Planned Parenthood

Occupation: King County Councilmember, Mother, Grandmother and Community Volunteer.

It is an honor to serve you as the Eastside’s Advocate. I have worked to make county government more understandable, accessible and accountable. I believe in reaching across party lines and working together to achieve real results.

I led efforts to protect taxpayers and balance the county’s budget, with no new taxes, while preserving vital services for those in need.

The Eastside is a dynamic region. We must protect the unique character of our neighborhoods, preserve environmental quality and increase opportunity for families who live and work here.

I’ve helped expand parks and open space, protected taxpayers and job creators, balanced the largest county budget in the state, increased resources for law enforcement, worked to improve roads, added new bus routes and cut red tape to deliver vital services.

I am endorsed by a broad, bipartisan coalition including Democrats and Republicans, business, labor and environmental groups, Sheriff’s Deputies, Jail Guards, Firefighters, mayors, city councilmembers and many others. They know I listen and get results.

Twice named “Outstanding Elected Official” by the Alliance of Eastside Agencies and chosen as “Children’s Champion” by King County Boys and Girls Clubs.

I am asking for your vote to keep working for you!
