Statement:

We, the voters, rejected the levy to build a new hospital in 2007 by 69%.  Despite this vote, a new hospital opened in May.  We will pay nearly $60 million for it.  Additionally, the hospital district commissioners have followed the recommendation of the current district management team to sell about $38 million more in LTGO bonds.  You and I are at risk for the payment of this long term debt, plus interest.

The hospital district has been wasteful and reckless with our taxes for far too long.  We tax payers are not unlimited sources of income for empire builders. We need accountable leadership that will stand up for the needs and will of those who pay the taxes to support our hospital district.  We need leadership that will keep the hospital doors open without bankruptcy.

I am that person.  I will serve your interests.

Statement:

As the owner of a thriving law practice in Fall City for the past fifteen years, I understand the need for financial security to maintain my business in the market. In a time of evolving healthcare reform, Snoqualmie Valley Hospital District needs to be financially ready and able to be at the forefront of these changes to support the needs of the Snoqualmie Valley. The District's Board is strong and unified and will continue to hold administration accountable for past unsuccessful strategies, as well as future practices. As Treasurer, I will work to assure the hospital's viability while expanding needed operations to serve our citizens without the need to increase our taxes. I will continue to scrutinize and monitor our practices to assure that District funds are used wisely to meet the health care needs of our community. I thank you for the opportunity and look forward to serving you.
