Bill Fuller

Bill Fuller

Education: BS in Forestry – Wood Technology and MS - Pulp and Paper -University of Washington
Occupation: Independent Wood Technology Consultant, FRM Consulting

Statement:

As a former firefighter, I often listen to radio communications during fire and aid calls.  I can assure you that our Department’s skilled officers and crews are serving and protecting us very well.  Do you know they respond to almost 18,000 calls each year in our growing community?   This takes a toll on valuable equipment that must always be ready to respond.  Stations that house the equipment and crews must be well-maintained and more resistant to the “big one” earthquake.  The Commissioners are both accountable to the taxpaying public and businesses and to the firefighters and staff that serve the community every hour of every day.    We all understand that funding must be there for day-to-day operation.  It is the role of the commissioners to work with the department and city leadership to have a sound strategy to meet the necessary future needs and communicate those needs with and listen to the taxpayers.

I am new to the field of government.  However, my experience at Weyerhaeuser, in industry and in the community gives me confidence that I can bring a fresh perspective and propose creative alternatives to the Commission as they develop and implement a strategy for the future.

Jerry Galland

Jerry Galland

Education: After high school I became educated on responsible public service at no public expense.
Occupation: Small business owner and current hourly Boeing employee

Statement:

SKF&R is staffed by highly trained firefighters doing an excellent job every day protecting our community.

SKF&R would serve you better with commissioners who cared more about the public and less about their own interests.

Jerry Galland has proven he cares about taxpayers and is asking your vote for accountable leadership.

SKF&R leadership currently acts irresponsibly to rubber stamp union interests without responsible citizen accountability.

We continue paying hundreds of thousands in interest only on a multi-million dollar loan for vacant land with no building plan.

When the department laid off firefighters and closed an aid unit, four commissioners orchestrated a chiefs contract that doubled severance pay to $340,000.

You deserve the new leadership Jerry will bring, that the public can trust, to pass needed revenues supporting our firefighters.

The $3.5million Excess Levy of 2012 promised hiring 9 firefighters. Sadly, only 2 firefighters were hired with the Excess Levy.

Bad choices and endorsements by the existing board, and administration, cost millions in lost services and voter trust.

Jerry is solely dedicated to being open and accountable to the taxpaying citizens.

Thank you for voting Jerry Galland.

Thank you Mark Freitas for over 17 years of dedicated service to this district.
