Lorn Richey

Education: MPA ,Seattle University 2009; Police Officer Certification, CJTC 2006; LEAN Government Efficiency Certification, UW Tacoma
Occupation: Lieutenant, Liquor Control Board; Instructor, Criminal Justice Training Commission

Statement:

As your Councilmember, I will work for responsive government. I will represent the people, not dictate to them. Council decisions should benefit as many of us as possible, now and for future generations. I support local businesses, economic development, education, and keeping Shoreline a family community that is a model of natural beauty.

Shoreline residents deserve to feel safe on their streets and in their homes. Change and growth bring more public safety issues, and we need to plan for them.

We need a light rail plan that is based on best principles and assures quality of life and environmental protections.  We cannot grow faster than we can afford to pay for infrastructure.  Council needs to balance the risks of the rezone with the needs of our schools and residents who worked hard to make Shoreline a good place to live.  All neighborhoods need someone that will fight for them.

Jesse Salomon

Jesse Salomon

Education: Juris Doctor, University of Washington School of Law School; Bachelor of Arts, Western Washington University
Occupation: Shoreline City Councilmember and King County Public Defender

Statement:

Last election I asked for your vote to keep Shoreline moving forward. Since then I’ve helped grow our economy, protect our environment, reduce traffic, and promote equity and public safety by:

Preparing for impacts of Shoreline’s two light rail stations by planning walkable communities, minimizing disruption and increasing property values in affected neighborhoods; supporting the farmer’s market; attracting a Trader Joe’s; funding sidewalks and affordable housing; fighting the ill-considered Point Wells development; analyzing city budgets to cut waste; funding our senior center; supporting paid sick leave for low wage workers; increasing salmon habitat and reducing carbon emissions.

I ask your continued support to keep Shoreline moving forward.

Endorsements: Shoreline Mayor Shari Winstead; Shoreline Councilmembers Chris Eggen, Will Hall, Keith McGlashan; State Representatives Ruth Kagi, Luis Moscoso; Attorney General Bob Ferguson; County Sheriff John Urquart; County Councilmembers Rod Dembowski, Larry Phillips; Seattle Councilmember Mike O’Brien; Washington Conservation Voters; NARAL; Young Democrats

Michael Bachety

Michael Bachety

Education: B.A. Communications
Occupation: Mr. Mom

Statement:

My wife and I moved to Shoreline from Greenlake when she was pregnant with our first child in 2009. Six years later, we have three little girls and we hope to raise them in Shoreline for many years to come.

I have worked in television production for over 20 years (my wife and I met while working on the Olympics in 1998) with different unions between Seattle and New York. In 2012, I left work behind to discover the world of being Mr. Mom. A 24/7 occupation that has revealed how important a community is when raising children.

My top issue for running is to work on a balance regarding rezones and developments around Shoreline. I will work hard for a mitigated growth vision for our city. I will also fight to preserve what urban green space is left and help leave behind something our kids will be proud of.
