Monique Taylor-Swan

Monique Taylor-Swan

Education: Has taken classes at Highline Community College
Occupation: home care aide serving seniors and people with disabilities

Statement:

My kids go to school here. I am running because Renton could be a great place for my children to grow up and have their own families, but we need real change.

As a board member of my union I fought to raise the minimum wage in SeaTac and Seattle. Workers in Renton deserve to make a living wage and have paid sick leave so they can care for a sick child or parent.

I spend my days caring for seniors and people with disabilities. But we don't have enough services for seniors here in Renton. And we certainly don't have the services we need for youth.

Renton is an increasingly diverse city and diversity is one of our strengths. But we don't have a council that fully represents our community. I want to make sure all of our residents are heard at City Hall.
