Jason Chinchilla

Education: Attending Bellevue College, Majoring in Political Science with a minor in History
Occupation: Delivery and Technology Specialist at Toyota and Scion of Kirkland

Statement:

As a Kirkland native, I am proud to call our city my home. Our people set this city apart. I value education and have served as a private school board member for two years and coached youth soccer. I currently serve on the Kirkland Park Board.

Kirkland faces big decisions. I will always listen to you and let you know where I stand. I bring new ideas and fresh energy to protecting our neighborhoods, our quality of life and the small businesses that are the life blood of our community. I will work to repeal the plastic bag ban and oppose other unnecessary regulations. All of Kirkland deserves access to the same level of city services, so I will work to improve infrastructure citywide without raising taxes.

Together, with you help and vote, we can and will make decisions that will build Kirkland's future.

Jory Hamilton

Education: University of Washington (Seattle): Bachelors of Science in Astronomy, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics (Comprehensive)
Occupation: Sales Clerk, Fred Meyer

Statement:

My Kirkland work ethic proved to be critical in overcoming obstacles presented by my learning disabilities while earning four majors at the University of Washington. At UW, I served as Vice President for a nationally recognized student organization, Phi Kappa Tau. During my term,

I learned not to base my decisions to be re-elected, but rather by listening to those I served. I learned to resolve conflicts with honesty, integrity, and perseverance while understanding most disputes are rooted from frustration and miscommunication rather than malicious intent.  I hope to bring these skills to public service.  As your Kirkland City Council Member I will make education, local business, our environment, and elderly care my priorities.  Before attending medical school in a few years, my vision is to bridge the generation gap and unite our citizens.

As a citizen born and raise in Kirkland, I humbly ask for your vote.

Bill Henkens

Bill Henkens

Education: College / Business
Occupation: Local Small Business Owner

Statement:

I will bring a new perspective to the city council. I have been a resident of Kirkland for 35 years and a local business owner for the past 16 years.

The city of Kirkland needs a comprehensive review of the budget, as well as a review of the city building codes and enforcement measures. We must return the trust in our local government. Are we spending our resources in a responsible way?

The power of our local government should be in the hands of the citizens and not with special interest groups. My only desire is what is in the best interest of the citizens of Kirkland.

I have received several awards for helping victims of domestic violence in our community.  Giving back to my community has always been something very important to me.

A vote for me is a vote for responsible local government.

Statement:

I would be honored to serve you for another term by representing Kirkland with experience, conviction, compassion.  I am committed to responsible budgeting, smart growth, public safety, and transportation solutions.

Kirkland is a place where people want to live, work, and play.  I championed parks and recreation facilities like the Cross Kirkland Corridor and ARC to meet our needs.  I voted for the redevelopment of Totem Lake and Park Place to create economic opportunities and bring the things people need closer to where they live.

I serve on the King County Domestic Violence Initiative and led the council's efforts to decrease sexual exploitation.

I will continue our commitment to delivering a budget that aligns spending with community priorities.  Regionally, I will continue working on environmental issues, combating domestic violence, alleviating hunger, and creating affordable housing.
