King County Local Voters' Pamphlet

August 4, 2015 Primary And Special Election

City, City of Bellevue
Council Position No. 7

Lyndon Heywood

Lyndon Heywood

Education: Bachelor of Science - Printing
Occupation: Production Artist

Statement:

I have been given 200 words for you to decide that I'm either a nut-case or a narcissistic career politician.  The truth is, I am neither.  I am nothing more than a locally active resident of our city of Bellevue.

This makes me a valid candidate for council.

The principles I bring along with me, make me an awesome one.

I have nothing but respect for Jennifer Robertson.  I have always found her to be communicative and welcoming.  Good people like Jennifer continue to be involved in our communities, whether in office or not.

However, there are serious questions about political donations - like those accepted by Jennifer - and how they affect a councilor's ability to act independently.

I am standing to give a shot across the bows.  I'm giving you the opportunity to "Vote the Money Out of Our Politics".  The side effect of which, is that you will get a council member with a solid track record of civic engagement, and some daring goals for the future. Win - Win.

Bellevue is our city.  Vote Heywood and we get to take it back.

Bill Hirt

Bill Hirt

Education: BS and MS Engineering, Iowa State University 1961 and 1962
Occupation: retired boeing engineer

Statement:

I am once again filing as a candidate for the Bellevue City Council, not for votes, but to attract viewers to my blog http://stopeastlinknow.blogspot.com.  It explains why the council should not approve the permits Sound Transit needs for East Link.  The blog as well as my initial candidacy were prompted by ST, BCC, and the media choosing to ignore three years of emails and personal appearances attempting to raise these concerns.  Since then more than 24,000 have “viewed” the 240+ posts without a single rebuttal.

I urge anyone who cares about transportation to pay particular attention to three of the posts.  The 12/20/14 post explains why light rail will never have the capacity to justify ST spending billions on Prop 1 extensions.  The 2/10/15 post details ST incompetence in dealing with cross-lake commuting and how their mendacity regarding light rail noise impact on the Mercer Slough has made a mockery of the whole environmental review process.   The 1/22/15 post provides the details of the financial debacle awaiting the entire area from construction and subsequent operation of the Prop 1 extensions.

I’m certain many who chose to do so will agree the BCC should stop East Link by disallowing permits.
