Public education plays a central role in developing our youth to become thriving members of the community. The Issaquah School District must focus on delivering high-quality education for all students while promoting strong community involvement and maximizing operating efficiency.

Since my March 2019 Issaquah School District Board appointment, I have focused on understanding School District policies and procedures. I have also met with teachers, students, parents, staff and community residents to learn about the good work occurring and where opportunities exist for stronger impact. My experience working with at-risk youth, understanding complex systems, building coalitions and nonprofit board service has allowed me to learn quickly on the job.

As a parent with two children in Issaquah Schools, I believe that every family, whether longtime residents or newer to the community, should fully experience the excellence of the Issaquah School District and have an opportunity to participate in developing its future vision. We can increase the reach and quality of engagement across the District by leveraging new communications tools to facilitate better partnerships, greater alignment of goals and measurable progress.
