You elected me a Vashon Park Commissioner four years ago.  During these four years, I was integral in the development of the strategic plan,  the update of the park policies and the ongoing efforts to stabilize our financial situation.  My fellow commissioners and I share a commitment to transparency, a commitment to financial viabiity, and an orientation to community service.  I am particularly interested in assuring that the park district addresses the needs of senior citizens and the special needs population.  The VPD has many challenges ahead (e.g., achieving the goals (with limited funds)  that the Vashon residents requested in the user survey, which became the basis of the strategic plan), and the experience I have gained will help us navigate the future successfully.  The parks and recreational programs we do and will offer are worth protecting and I will do my utmost to do so.
