Statement:

As a Commissioner for the Des Moines Pool Metropolitan Park District, I am committed to the stewardship in representing the views of the community. I advocate the importance of swim lessons and affordable services. Our community needs a place for our families to recreate, athletes to train and compete, and a place to exercise and play.

We have an obligation to ensure the sustainability of our programming and facility. Good governance, communication, and transparency are needed. I will continue to bring leadership, integrity, and accountability in making decisions.

Statement:

In October 2018, I started attending pool board meetings when it was clear that the major maintenance project was overbudget and no pool services were being provided. I am running for office because I believe there are many improvements that can be made in the operation of the pool, its finances and its accessibility for all citizens.

When elected, my goals are to resolve the lack of swim lessons for the current demand, reduce budgetary overspending in the operations budget and reach out and promote the pool to our diverse community. In addition, I pledge to donate a portion of my Pool Commissioner stipend to fund swim scholarships at Mt. Rainier Pool.

I am 20-year Des Moines resident and our three children have learned to swim at Mt. Rainier Pool. I am passionate about the keeping the pool open and serving our community for years to come.
