Proposed Public Hospital District No.5
Commissioner Position No. 2
I moved to Vashon in 2013 after a 40-year journalism career. I serve on the Food Bank board and host the "Island Crossroads" public affairs/interview show on Voice of Vashon. I've explored the island health-care situation in depth on the radio show, and am convinced we need a hospital district to maintain access to medical care for all islanders.
Health-care options on Vashon have diminished greatly in just the 6 years I've lived here. As commissioner, I'd work to protect the services we still have, and restore some of what we've lost. I believe this can be accomplished with a levy far below the maximum state law allows. Two priorities: Extended clinic hours, and more same-day appointments.
I've spent much of my career immersed in government and public policy, important background for this job. Many leaders of the hospital district campaign support me. I'd appreciate your vote. Thanks.
