Statement:

Friends and neighbors:

When I read the morning paper today, it was reporting chronic water shortages globally as mankind consumes water at an irreplaceable rate. Even some of our neighboring communities are facing water shortages. And once again, I was thankful to live in Fall City, where we have abundant, clean water.

I'm running unopposed for reelection to the Fall City Water District board of commissioners, and thought I'd use this space to update the community on the state of the district and opportunities/challenges we face.  Water availability and quality: High. We have water rights to more water than we pump from our wells. Water infrastructure: Generally good but we face challenges with older sections of the district, particularly downtown. This summer we are replacing old ductile iron piping behind the Roadhouse Inn.  Finances: stable. We increase rates slightly as needed due to rising costs but in minimal increments.
