2019 general election
Woodinville Fire & Rescue
Commissioner Position 2
I have been a Firefighter for over 30 years and a resident of the Woodinville Fire District since 2002. I am currently a Lieutenant on Ladder 103 for the Bellevue Fire Department and served in the role of Training Officer from 2015 to 2017. I hold certifications in multiple technical fire service disciplines and I have been endorsed by the Woodinville Professional Firefighters.
Firefighters must be ready to respond to any emergency in all conditions. As Training Officer I was responsible for supporting, educating, and developing both new and veteran firefighters. I found this role incredibly rewarding. This experience along with my desire to serve the Woodinville Community is why I am running for King County Fire Commissioner Woodinville Fire and Rescue - I want to support the Firefighters and their Administrators with what they need to get the job done.

Seven years ago, when I became a Fire Commissioner, the Department was still recovering from the 2008 economic downturn. Today, the Department is financially sound. The District's Fire Benefit Charge recently passed with an 81% yes vote.
The trend in the fire service is consolidation. We have entered into an inter-local agreement with the City of Duvall to support their Fire Prevention Division and we share IT services. I support this trend if it is properly vetted and found to be more efficient in both the Administrative & Operations Divisions and financially sound for the businesses and residents of the District.
I am running for re-election to the Woodinville Board of Fire Commissioners, Position 2. I would like to continue to apply my experience as a Board member; 35 year firefighter; and former small business owner. Please vote for Jim Dorney, Experience matters. Thank you.
