Statement:

Leslie retired from a corporate communications career and has since focused on giving back to her community. For the past ten years she has directed the Emergency Assistance program for the Kent United Methodist Church.She has served on the Interfaith Taskforce working on solutions to end homelessness. Leslie is also a founding member of Kent HOPE, a day center for homeless women and children. Leslie, along with her husband, founded the Kent East Hill Boxing Club, an amateur boxing club for youth. The club focused on: leadership, citizenship, conditioning, community service,and the sweet science of boxing. For the past 6 years, Leslie mentored in Communities in Schools of Kent. In 2011, Leslie was appointed to serve on the Covington Human Services Commission and is currently serving as the Chair of the Commission. 

 

She is running for KSD Director, Position 3  because I love working with kids and for kids. I truly believe they are this country’s most precious resource and our future. She has the capability to work full-time at this job. She has 3 main goals: strong financial oversight, transparent and open communication with: parents, teachers, students, staff, community members and partners, equity and excellence on all levels.
