2019 general election
Issaquah School District 411
Director District 1
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your School Board Director for the past eight years. I want each child’s school experience to help them not only learn academic knowledge and skills but also to learn the social-emotional skills necessary to be successful in life. Each student has a unique path to their post-secondary endeavors.
My focus has been on expanding opportunities for students – an additional class period in high school for exploration, remediation, and acceleration; dual-language in elementary; and competency-based high school. Students are holistically supported with the implementation of Positive Behavior Social Emotional Supports (PBSES), school-based mental health counselors and additional guidance counselors.
Quality teaching to high academic standards along with these supports for students has enabled the Issaquah School District to maintain a graduation rate over 91% as well as achieve strong passage rates on student assessments.
I served as Board President in 2015 and 2018 as well as our Board’s Legislative Representative for two years. For two decades, I’ve been involved in education volunteer work through Cougar Ridge, Apollo, Issaquah Middle, and Issaquah High PTSAs; Issaquah PTSA Council; ISD Bond/Levy Committees; Issaquah Schools Foundation; and Volunteers for Issaquah Schools. I appreciate your support.
