Education: Master’s in International Education, Stanford University; Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, University of Arizona
Occupation: Small business owner
Statement:

Eight years ago, I transitioned from being a classroom teacher to building a successful online company where I provide teacher training and math, literacy and science activities. Because of my career in education, I collaborate with thousands of teachers around the country. No other candidate is as knowledgeable about what’s working in today’s classrooms or as capable of meeting the needs of our students, schools and staff.

I will create a long-term solution for our overcrowded schools so that every student can benefit from lower class size. Because recent changes in state funding will cause our school district to receive significantly less money, I will design a sustainable funding plan to ensure that Tahoma is responsible with the money we have while also working with the state for more stable funding in the future.

As a teacher, Tahoma mom, and active volunteer, I’m excited to make Tahoma shine even brighter!

Education: Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education with an emphasis in Economics, Brigham Young University
Occupation: Community volunteer and mother, former high/middle school teacher and businesswoman
Statement:

As a high school and middle school teacher, my career was spent working at one of the most diverse schools in our country. This experience shaped me into someone who works hard to create unity and bring people together. I have been a leader and advocate in our elementary schools, working side by side with principals, teachers, parents and students.

As an entrepreneur, I know the importance of innovation, hard work and grit. I also understand the importance of listening to people’s needs.

Tahoma is an amazing school district; it is the primary reason I chose to move here eight years ago. I want to bring greater fiscal responsibility and transparency to our district.  I believe in investing in our children, they are our future; but we need to do so responsibly. As a member of the school board, I will be accountable to you for every dollar spent.
