Statement:

I am honored to serve as a board member of the Riverview School District. I am a passionate education advocate who cares deeply about the Riverview students, staff, parents and our community.  I am proud to be part of a high functioning board/superintendent team that is focused on the mission to “educate children.”

My family has lived in the Snoqualmie Valley for 35 years and I’ve been involved in schools since we moved here - Schools Committee, REF, PTSA and school director.  I am a fundraiser for a youth nonprofit and mentor a student at Carnation Elementary.

In the last 5 years Riverview has: increased the graduation rate to 97%, received the Board of Distinction award, and is recognized as a national leader in ‘student voice.’ There is still much work to be done for every student to be successful. I ask for Your Vote.  Thank you.

Statement:

Every Tuesday afternoon, I volunteer at my children’s elementary school. I have observed teachers, administrators, and children on a consistent basis for several years. I have seen classrooms without enough math books for each child. I have talked with frustrated teachers who want to help children with specific needs and the administration is slow to help. I have seen computers sit useless and unused because they had unlicensed, unusable software.

Our teachers are great. They are dedicated instructors who are passionate about what they do. They need our help. Our teachers need resources, funds, and tools to help each and every child succeed.

I pledge to meet monthly with teachers to find out what they need. I will work with school board members to focus on each child, each teacher, and each school to enable them to be successful. A vote for me is a vote for our children.
