Education: Bachelor of Science, Western Washington University
Occupation: Council member; former college instructor and small business owner
Statement:

I’m proud to be your City Councilmember and Council President. My ongoing priorities include: reducing crime in our neighborhoods; road and sidewalk improvements; proactive code enforcement; addressing speeding on residential streets; and nurturing a sense of safety and community for all our people.

I have the experience and the relationships with local, county and state leaders to advocate for Tukwila on key regional issues, including economic development, affordable housing, and transportation.

I love Tukwila. My involvement in our city began in the 1990s as a school and community volunteer and leader. As your Council Representative, I build consensus, bring common-sense solutions to difficult problems, and strive to make the most of our tax dollars. My focus is on improving our quality of life; balancing the needs of community and business; actively advocating for all residents; and keeping our city strong. I ask for your vote to continue this important work.

Statement:

Tukwila are faces many challenges: rising rents, public safety, community and small business displacement, and a lack of living-wage jobs. Through my work as a University of Washington Chapter Vice President, executive board member and lead steward at my union SEIU 925, I know we all succeed when we bring everyone to the table and find solutions.

Regardless of what color you are or where you live - we all deserve the same things. We deserve secure jobs that provide for our family, affordable healthcare, robust public transit, and government that is responsive to Tukwila’s diverse communities.

As your City Councilmember, I will work to keep Tukwila affordable and deliver smart investments in public services. I humbly ask for your vote. Endorsements: MLK Labor, SEIU6, SEIU 925, SEIU 775, SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, OneAmerica Votes, National Women’s Political Caucus of Washington, Teamsters 763, Teamsters 117, Laborers 242, King County Young Democrats
