Ryan is a proven leader who was elected to represent you on council four years ago. He has over 14 years’ combined experience working in government, community organizing, and non-profit advocacy. 

While serving on the Regional Affordable Housing Task Force and Regional Transportation Committee, Ryan worked to develop a 5-year plan to create more affordable housing and focus growth around transit and employment hubs. He has also represented Renton on the WRIA 8 Salmon Recovery Council and Cedar River Council, where he worked to make habitat investments to restore salmon runs to sustainable levels. When passing city budgets, Ryan has consistently prioritized law enforcement training and public safety resources needed to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.

Adaptability is key to successful growth for every functional system, and the City of Renton is no exception. We need to develop an adaptable workforce skilled to meet the demands of the ever-changing industries within our city limits and its neighboring cities.

I plan to introduce inclusive housing policies that will allow landlords to engage in safe, affordable housing practices, while also pushing for initiatives to construct affordable housing, avoid gentrification and keep our residents in their homes.

With the experience of living and working all over the world, I will bring a different perspective on how to foster a thriving diverse community. I intend to advocate for finance literacy, promote financial empowerment, including entrepreneurship trainings, especially of our marginalized population. A stable community makes a safe community.
