Statement:

As a working mom who raised her family on MI, I look forward to continuing to serve our community on the City Council. My approach is collaborative and inclusive – listening, learning, and leading on the important issues that enable our families to thrive, our Island to maintain its sense of community, and to protect our environment for generations to come.

This is an exciting and challenging time as we work to prioritize our limited resources while sustaining the great quality of life we enjoy. We face many transportation, land use, equity, and economic changes and have the opportunity to embrace and shape our future rather than be overwhelmed by or deny it.

We can have mobility, an arts center, school-based mental health counselors, safe and beautiful public spaces, and financial stability. Let’s work together to get them. Our community deserves nothing less.  Thank you for your vote.

Statement:

My wife, Susanne, and I moved to Mercer Island for excellent schools, great parks, easy access to the region, and sense of community to raise our four children.   I am proud to have worked on the successful 2014 school bond campaign and to have served on the YFS Advisory Board.

Allowing outside interests to dictate priorities and influence decisions has resulted in several policy failures that could have been avoided with a Council focused on the things that matter to Islanders. From my conversations with Islanders - public safety and budget stability are essential.  I will work with city leadership to improve process and streamline service delivery.  The path to budget stability requires an honest assessment of current priorities and processes.

With your support I pledge to put the priorities of Mercer Island first; representing Mercer Island is my only goal.
