Education: B.S. in Business, Montana State University; MBA, Seattle University
Occupation: Manager, The Boeing Company
Statement:

My family moved to Maple Valley in 1999, attracted to the natural beauty of the city. I have served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Maple Valley Community Center and the Maple Valley Historical Society, along with other organizations. I serve on the City Council’s Finance and SR169 Safety committees.

Maple Valley is a highly sought-after community to live and raise families. It has retained its small town feel while continuing to grow. Transportation and economic development concerns that allow our residents to work, shop and play in town must be solved when planning for the future. As councilor, I will continue working on SR169, development of the Legacy Site and planning for a Downtown Maple Valley. Together, we can tackle the tough challenges ahead!

I have the knowledge, experience and dedication to make these important decisions. Please Vote Syd Dawson! Endorsed by King County Police Officers Guild

Statement:

Leadership is earned based on trust and credibility. Maple Valley is a great place to live. We face increasing problems in public safety, transportation, housing inventory, and a Daytime Economy. Elected officials, not appointed officials, serve as the voice of the people, this is what our Democracy is founded upon.

I have earned my badge of honor through service in the Military, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management/Disaster Response, business owner, volunteer, and much more. I am also a parent having seen my children struggle and succeed. This includes their roles in programs such as Tahoma Robotics, 4-H, Sports, and even helping out where they can within the community.

I foresee a Maple Valley where the flags fly in support of our Veterans, where we have a town center, and where our commercial properties aren’t labored by increasing rents. But it takes someone to be accountable to voters to make this happen.
