Statement:

As a mom, Girl Scout leader, attorney representing cities, and your non-partisan Councilmember, my highest priorities are protecting our quality of life and creating a bright future for everyone who calls Bellevue “home.” I’ve used my experience to deliver on these priorities by protecting neighborhoods from unmitigated growth, supporting strong public safety, and funding transportation projects to keep Bellevue moving.

I’m proud of the way our Council is leading Bellevue through this era of unprecedented economic growth. Our city finances are strong, helping make Bellevue more livable, including: improving public safety to keep crime rates low, smarter transportation investments, caring for our most vulnerable, increasing our commitment to affordable housing, expanding our parks system, and implementing environmentally-sensitive practices for a healthy, sustainable future. These achievements demonstrate my willingness to work hard, find common ground with fellow leaders, and move us successfully through complex issues.

I’m honored by the trust the community has placed in me to be your Councilmember these past 10 years. I humbly ask for your vote to continue as Your Voice on the Bellevue City Council.

Occupation: civil rights attorney, father and small business owner in Bellevue
Statement:

My family first moved to Bellevue in 1985. I now have a young child who attends a Bellevue Public School. The direction we choose as a city will determine his future and the future of his classmates.

As an attorney and social justice advocate, I’ve spent sixteen years working on making communities better for all. I’ve served on committees focused on economic development, equality, social justice, and human rights. I’ve been a camp counselor with the Bellevue YMCA and a foster parent. I have a proven record of working with all people to achieve positive outcomes.

We have work to do in Bellevue. Many senior citizens and young people are having a hard time surviving economically. Service workers are unable to make ends meet. We need affordable housing, living wages for all and improvements to public transportation.

Bellevue’s diversity can be its strength, but only if all voices are authentically included in decision-making. Currently, many in Bellevue feel excluded from city government. I’ll work hard to represent the best interests of all Bellevue residents.
