2021 primary election
Metropolitan King County
Council District No. 3
Born and raised here on the Eastside, I’m running to represent our community at a time when we face unprecedented challenges. The Eastside needs a champion on the King County Council to represent our interests, and who understands our unique perspective. We need experienced leaders who will act with the urgency required to meet this moment.
It’s been six years since a homelessness emergency was announced in King County, and things have only gotten worse. With my background in government oversight, I’ll demand accountability in how we address homelessness so we can finally make meaningful progress on this crisis. I’ll also be relentless in my pursuit of integrity and efficiency in the King County government to make sure that the County’s $13 billion budget is spent on programs that deliver results.
With 10 years of criminal justice policy and oversight experience, including at the U.S. Department of Justice, on Senator Maria Cantwell’s legislative staff, and in the Obama White House, I’ll work to ensure public safety while simultaneously bringing transparency and accountability to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
From salmon habitat to open spaces, we must balance our area’s growth with its impact on the environment, and do our part on the county level to combat climate change. I’ve enjoyed our area’s natural beauty my entire life, and feel a responsibility to ensure our community can continue to enjoy what makes our region such a special place to live.
As we recover from the pandemic, we must focus on supporting our local businesses, while also creating an environment where new businesses and entrepreneurs can thrive. I’m asking for your vote so that we can work together to solve the significant challenges we face. Endorsements include Representative Amy Walen, Newcastle Deputy Mayor Tony Ventrella, 48th Legislative District Democrats, and more.
Kathy Lambert
PO BOX 1138
WOODINVILLE, WA 98072-1138
(425) 891-2014
We need experienced leadership to help guide our future as we regain normalcy from an unprecedented pandemic that has decimated people’s lives and our economy. Representing the largest of the county districts, Kathy is a proven leader with a track record of providing local and regional services.
To help with COVID recovery, Kathy helped develop a grant program that distributed over $16 million in federal grants to help our small unincorporated businesses. In addition, funds were provided for supplies, such as test kits and PPE, to help reduce COVID-19 transmission.
Kathy’s experience with law and justice issues helped her to develop social service programs to reduce recidivism and help people get their lives back on track. Her leadership with the Community Court Program began as a pilot in our district, and its success has led to adoption throughout the county.
On the Law and Justice Committee, Kathy helped establish the Court of the Future using technology to create efficiencies in our legal system. She led the update of King County’s emergency preparedness plans and has helped establish multiple programs to help youth in crisis. Her commitment to public safety is vital as the Sheriff’s office transitions to an appointed position. Kathy will work to ensure that our Law Enforcement Officers have the resources and training to protect and serve.
Kathy’s financial expertise has helped us maintain the county’s AAA credit rating, saving taxpayer money. She also serves on the Flood Control District that develops plans and builds projects to reduce flooding and to deliver habitat restoration. She represents us on several state boards, including the board of directors and the legislative steering committee of the Washington State Association of Counties. Kathy has the experience and dedication we need representing us on the King County Council. Please vote for Kathy Lambert!
Sarah Perry
1420 NW GILMAN BLVD #2824
ISSAQUAH, WA 98027
(206) 228-0505
Sarah Perry is the leader we need to remove barriers for recovering small businesses, assist families in need of childcare, and help displaced workers regain a foothold in a changing economy. Sarah brings a twenty year record of hands-on, local leadership to the County Council. She has worked to build affordable housing and help the vulnerable, invest in community nonprofits that improve and enrich our lives. An advocate for survivors of domestic violence, Sarah will be a strong partner for public safety, gun violence prevention, and communities where all can thrive.
Like many, Sarah was drawn to our area for the natural beauty and rural character. She will protect open spaces, forests, rivers and watersheds, and adopt land use policies that safeguard our small towns and local farms. With east King County on the front lines of worsening fire seasons and climate change, Sarah will demand continued action at the County and State level to protect our health and future.
A transit champion, Sarah will expand transit alternatives and connections, like electric shuttles to Redmond’s new Light Rail, and Metro throughout the I-90 corridor. Sarah will also address the urgent safety and maintenance needs of our rural roads and bridges, a leadership failure that endangers our safety.
Sole Endorsements: Eastside and Redmond Firefighters, nurses and home care workers represented by SEIU 775 &1199, Washington Conservation Voters, Congressman Adam Smith, Attorney General Bob Ferguson, Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz, the 5th, 41st & 45th District Democrats, and more!
After 20 years of the same councilmember, our Eastside communities need new leadership; a champion who delivers for the fastest growing district in King County, and the hard working people who call it home. Sarah Perry understands the values and priorities we share, and has the experience to get the job done.
