I filed for King County Council #6 to inform voters Sound Transit’s East Link is the most egregious example of Prop 1 light rail extensions that will inevitably be regarded as some of the biggest transportation boondoggles in history. As with the previous 8 candidacies I do so with no desire to win but to attract viewers to my blog stopeastlinknow .
It details a decade of Seattle Times failure to tell voters the ST plan to spend billions on Prop 1 extensions to replace bus routes into Seattle will not only do nothing to reduce congestion, it will reduce access for current riders. That CEO Rogoff’s 2019 budget exemplifies an ST with delusional light rail ridership claims that fails to understand the benefits of adding bus transit capacity. That ST should have never been allowed to confiscate the I-90 Bridge center roadway or to devastate the route into Bellevue. That any audit would have concluded none of the Prop 1 extensions, but especially East Link, will have the needed capacity.
The legislature and the Seattle Times both failed to require the audit. 6th District voters will pay an especially heavy price unless they’re “persuaded” to do so.

East King County is a wonderful place to live. As your representative, I work to enhance our quality of life and make opportunity available to all. In my first term, I brought together the county, cities, private and nonprofit organizations to implement a regional plan to stop people from being priced out of our neighborhoods. To protect low- and fixed-income residents, I held the line on unneeded property tax increases.
In our congested region, I have long championed transportation solutions, including light rail and bus rapid transit expansions to the Eastside, local bus service and safe places to walk and bike. I’ve advanced parks and trail improvements throughout the Eastside and have championed climate-sustaining policies, like electrifying our Metro bus fleet and purchasing clean power.
As a public school mom, I have supported investments in education and programs that make cultural and historical experiences available and help close the achievement gap. I believe that when we work together, we can expand opportunity in communities across King County. I would be honored to earn your continued support.
Endorsed: Eastside elected leaders, including Mayors and Congressmembers; Firefighters; WA Conservation Voters; labor and business organizations and many more!
