When my opponent first entered public office in 1992, Nirvana’s "Nevermind" was #1 and the average Seattle rent was under $700/month. A generation later, much has changed - good and bad. Today we face affordability and homelessness crises, worsening transportation gridlock, and impacts of climate change. I’m running for County Council because it’s time for new energy and ideas to address our region's biggest challenges.
I’m proud of my experience leading the Sound Transit 3 campaign that will finally deliver light rail to our district, connecting our region. I led the charge to permanently fund Seattle’s parks, and helped build the state’s largest advocacy effort for climate justice and carbon reduction.
On the County Council, I’ll demand more from this underutilized office. King County must lead on regional homelessness solutions, help seniors avoid displacement, and facilitate quality housing near transit and services for young families and working people. I’ll champion permanent Metro expansion and early light rail delivery. I’ll work every day to improve public health and safety, address gun violence, and protect Puget Sound from unacceptable wastewater pollution.
Proudly endorsed: Lt. Governor Habib, Washington Conservation Voters, Transportation for Washington, King County Democrats, National Women’s Political Caucus, unions, many more!

King County is among the best places to live and work, but our success has brought challenges -- homelessness, unaffordability, income inequality, congestion, pollution. In my second term I’ll continue focusing on:
Homelessness/Affordable Housing: As a budget writer and Housing Committee Chair, I increased funding for hundreds of new shelter beds and affordable housing units. I’m leading on the creation of a new regional homelessness response system to alleviate homelessness and increase public health and safety. Transit: I’ll continue fighting to fund additional bus routes, service hours, and accessible, affordable and safe service. Environment: I’ve secured millions of dollars to protect Puget Sound and orcas from toxins. I’ll continue working to hasten Metro’s transition to a zero-emissions fleet, combat climate change regionally and ban new oil infrastructure.
Affectionately called the Council’s ‘badass feminist icon,’ I’m known for working collaboratively to get results. I’ve led on sexual and gun violence prevention, childcare affordability, drug treatment and addressing inequality. I’d love your support.
Some endorsements: Housing Action Fund; Washington Conservation Voters; Transportation for Washington; Alliance for Gun Responsibility Fund; 32nd, 36th, 46th, King County Democrats; MLK Labor, 15+ Unions; NWPC-WA; Planned Parenthood; NARAL; Senator Maria Cantwell, Bob Ferguson, Hilary Franz, Dow Constantine….
