Council Position No. 7
Jesse Tam

NEWCASTLE, WA 98059

As a Newcastle resident for over 20 years, I’m inspired every day by our city’s beauty and quality of life. As Newcastle continues to grow, we’re faced with challenges, like traffic and affordability, and opportunities – to uplift our diverse community and invest in parks, infrastructure, and community spaces. I am committed to maintaining and building a better, stronger city – leading with accountability and inclusion to create an accessible, transparent, effective local government.
I’m uniquely prepared to bring my decades of proven experience as a business leader and financial manager, along with my extensive record of local community engagement, to represent our values and make progress on our priorities. I’m a focused problem-solver, who will listen to neighbors, collaborate with regional stakeholders and businesses, and advocate for a Newcastle where all can succeed and feel welcome.
I’d be honored to earn your vote.
As a 16-year resident of Newcastle and career technology professional, I am thankful to raise my family in a community that is desirable, safe, and culturally diverse. As one who grew up in a small town, I recognize the unique qualities of our city.
I have spent the past two years as a volunteer on the Newcastle Planning Commission, and I fully appreciate what is required to provide you with essential city services. If elected to City Council, I will work to build bridges, not silos. I will act as your friend and neighbor, encouraging open discussion of issues facing our city. I am an advocate for traffic safety downtown, around schools, and in our neighborhoods.
I will prioritize communication, public safety, and fiscal stability so Newcastle can maintain its desirable qualities while accommodating growth as required by regional authorities. Please vote Chris Villasenor for Newcastle City Council.
I am a veteran and 15-year Newcastle resident, who loves our city. Last year, I helped lead the fight against new utility taxes. With your help, we decisively repealed them! I’m running to create a new fiscally responsible council majority for Newcastle sustainability. I’ll focus on prioritizing spending for public safety and maintenance of our critical infrastructure. With 20 years of project engineering expertise, I know how to get things done right.
Newcastle must balance the budget. City expenditures must be less than revenue. I’ll require the city manager to present a balanced budget without new taxes. The tax and spend council majority increases our taxes to pay for unfunded capital projects and for consultant recommendations they ignore.
I’ll value your money and treat you with respect. I humbly ask for your vote. Endorsements: Present and past councilmembers Dave Mitchell, Tom Griffin, Tamra Kammin, Bill Erxleben, Gordon Bisset, John Drescher.
