Occupation: County Councilmember; Attorney, civil practice; Service as Special Deputy Prosecutor
Statement:

Growing up in King County, I worked selling socks at the Midway Swap Meet every weekend with my Dad. This work taught me the values that I still hold – work hard, play by the rules, and help others move up the ladder of opportunity.

Putting those values to work as your Councilmember, I wrote the county’s living wage and responsible contractor laws, and passed a nation-leading parental leave program. I led the development of our Youth Action Plan, which reformed county services for children and youth.

As Chair of the Transportation, Economy & Environment Committee, I led efforts to convert to zero-emission buses, protect open space, and clean up polluted waterways. Challenging the political establishment, I fought for customers and saved ten million annual Metro Transit rides.

Working with our Elections Department, we quadrupled county ballot drop boxes and added new languages.

As Chair of the Board of Health, I’ve worked to protect women’s health, combat cancer and improve mental health.

I have never missed a vote. I ask for your vote to continue to represent you with tenacity and independence.

Endorsements: King County Democrats, Washington Conservation Voters, NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, Firefighters, Nurses, Laborers, Carpenters, Realtors, Affordable Housing Council.
