The Houghton Community Council (HCC) is a tremendous asset to the Kirkland residents who live within the boundaries of the former City of Houghton (Lakeview, Central Houghton, and part of Bridle Trails). In exchange for annexing into Kirkland, Houghtonites retained the right to have an elected Community Council, which has veto power on land use and zoning changes within Houghton.

As a father of three young boys and a dog owner, it is important to me that Houghton maintain its walkability, bikeability, and overall small town feel within the larger city of Kirkland. I live (Central Houghton) and work (Carillon Point) within the jurisdiction of the HCC, and often walk or bike to work.
