Bellevue School District 405
Director District 5
My-Linh Thai
5007 139th Place SE
Bellevue, WA 98006

Four years ago, the Bellevue School District (BSD) community gave me the opportunity to serve as School Board Director and to listen and learn from parents and students, from educators and leaders who are committed and passionate about Public Education. Together, we worked to support our students and schools from early learning opportunities to capital projects.
During my first term, I have: Actively engaged with our community, most recently through the process of hiring BSD’s new Superintendent. Worked with my fellow elected Board Directors to create healthy learning conditions that lead to student and staff success. Held the district accountable on providing an equitable education for each and every student. Worked collaboratively with Board Directors from neighboring school districts to advocate more effectively at the state level.
Looking forward, I will continue to: Advocate for ample state funding to Public schools. Support Academic Success through Social, Emotional, and Behavioral learning. Work with partners and stakeholders to secure funding for innovative and proven programs aimed at closing the opportunity gap. Focus on effective Governance through Policy and Advocacy. Build strong School-Family-Community connections.
I am grateful for your confidence in me. I ask for your Vote to be your voice. #mylinh4education
The origins of my values began in the Bellevue community. My values of family and community were shaped by my own teachers, mentors and family who raised and shaped me right here in the Bellevue School District. Today, I have two children in BSD. Additionally, I worked at Jubilee REACH for two years and have been mentoring kids for over 28 years. Through this, I have experienced firsthand a growing divide between student’s learning/ development needs and the current BSD strategy.
A vote for me in district 5 will ensure a return to policies that support the whole child and give back the voice to the community that is no longer heard. I will emphatically and consistently engage with every person on the board and in the community to integrate all ideas. I will serve as a direct and consistent line between our many diverse groups and help ensure that the full strength of this powerful community works in service of each individual student. I will hold monthly town halls for the public to hear and address any concerns that you may have for our district. I will stand for the whole student allowing their strengths to shine.
