The Bellevue school district has long been a model of high quality education, in particular in regards to high education preparation. But with the changing landscape in both Olympia and Washington, D.C., we need to be prepared to ask the questions and plan ahead to ensure that all our students are prepared for the world they will enter as adults following their education. As a scientist, I am trained to address problems methodically and with as unbiased an approach as is possible. Additionally, I believe that children are naturally curious and inquisitive, and nurturing that sense of discovery is instrumental in developing a child’s love of learning and the overall success of their education. The STEM and career readiness initiatives implemented in the last several years are a good start, and now we need to ensure that we are achieving our stated goals.

As a parent to three young children, I am personally invested in the long term success of the Bellevue school district. I have been blessed to call Bellevue home since I attended UW for my graduate degree 12 years ago, and I look forward to further serving this vibrant community in the years to come.
