Statement:

I am a husband, father and small business owner who is fortunate enough to call Sammamish home. It would be a privilege to serve on the City Council. The citizens of Sammamish want accountable and responsive leadership. I want to help make that happen.

I am committed to balancing residential and commercial growth while maintaining the unique character of our neighborhoods; creating better infrastructure including working with regional partners to alleviate traffic; protecting our environment; and ensuring fiscal accountability and transparency that maintains a solvent City budget.

I was appointed to the Washington State Independent Living Council by Governor Jay Inslee and to the King County Civil Rights Commission by County Councilmember Kathy Lambert.

My endorsements include the Washington State Conservation Voters, Sheriff John Urquhart, State Senators Mark Mullet and Lisa Wellman, State Representatives Tana Senn and Judy Clibborn, and many others.

I would be honored to earn your vote.

Occupation: Construction Executive, Mortenson Construction
Statement:

Since 1997 my wife and I have been fortunate to raise our family in Sammamish. Our desirable community drives growth which creates numerous challenges. We need strong leadership to develop financially responsible strategies balancing development, traffic, affordability, trees, parks, the Town Center and our environment, yet constrain the pace of growth to preserve our city’s character.

As a 27-year leader in commercial construction, I’m uniquely qualified to champion fiscally disciplined, environmentally sensitive solutions in city government. During six years on the Pine Lake Covenant Church Leadership Team, I also learned the value of a calm, steady, level-headed approach to resolving contentious and emotional issues.

I bring common sense, technical skills as an engineer, and leadership skills from managing large teams to these complex challenges; all with an eye toward our looming budget crossover point.

Vote Mark Baughman for a fresh approach and strong leadership on the Sammamish City Council.
