City of Sammamish
Council Position 7
Sammamish is an extraordinary place to live. As we grow and develop, we must work to maintain what makes our community unique.
On the Sammamish City Council, I will ensure stewardship and inclusion guide our city planning while developing sustainable growth strategies. I will advance transportation solutions to alleviate congestion, attract and retain businesses enabling us to work and play where we live, and protect the incredible, natural environment surrounding us.
I believe elected officials must reflect us to represent us.
I reflect deep community commitment as a 15-year resident with 25 years in the technology sector, including customer advocacy. I teach and train in martial arts as a black belt. I’ve served as PTA president, basketball coach, and little league board member. I will represent Sammamish with passion, energy, and pragmatism while enhancing our community’s quality of life.
Endorsed by King County Democrats, Representative Tana Senn, Senator Lisa Wellman.
Vision: To work patiently and respectfully with council members and Sammamish residents to make Sammamish the most livable and progressive city in Washington state. I want Sammamish to be a community in which all people are welcome, protected, and supported.
Goal: To produce a balanced budget, and to oppose more taxes and borrowing – unless an emergency requires them.
Skills: Active listening, personal coaching, facilitation, mediation, public speaking, and compassionate communication (www.cnvc.org)
Education: BA Psychology, certificate in life coaching, and training in mediation, dynamic governance, and compassionate communication
Occupation: Retired technical writer (20+ years of experience)
Background: Born in Baltimore, Maryland (1948), served as a Personnel Officer in the United States Air Force, moved to Bellevue, Washington in 1985, and relocated to Sammamish in 1986
Community Experience: Bi-weekly volunteering with the Issaquah Senior Center and occasional volunteering with Eastside Friends of Seniors, and the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank.
I have been blessed to raise our family in Sammamish, rich in its natural environment, outstanding schools and recreational opportunities. As a long-term resident I have witnessed the dynamic growth of our community as it transitions to a more urban setting. My 35 years of experience working in the healthcare industry as an entrepreneur, director and manager has prepared me for the opportunity to give back to our city as a candidate for City Council. Challenges confront our city with the significant turnover of four council members and the loss of their leadership and community knowledge. I will bring to City Council my diverse business leadership to collaborate within city council to find the proper solutions for traffic congestion, development balance, and protection of our environment while maintaining a conservative fiscal policy. Join me in helping to make our City Council responsible to our citizens, our city and our environment.

I am running to ensure that Sammamish families of all kinds have a strong voice in our local government and feel safe and valued. As a single mom working full time, I know how hard it is to make ends meet and care for a family. Our community is becoming more diverse every day and I believe we have a responsibility to ensure that our city council reflects that diversity.
As city council member, I will focus on:
Community Outreach and Inclusion: I plan to advocate for all families
Environmental Stewardship: I want to protect our natural spaces
Thoughtful Growth: I want to make balanced decisions
Sammamish has been a wonderful place to raise my family – and I want to make sure all families have the same access to opportunity that my boys and I have had. Thank you for your vote.
