GENERAL 2025
Public Hospital District No. 5
Commissioner Position No. 4
I am a lifelong Vashon resident and have spent almost 30 years providing primary care to Vashon's families. Running an independent medical practice, I understand the difficult economics of health care. I am running for office because I believe we need to streamline the VHCD. While well intended, the formation of VHCD increased taxes and did not deliver the services promised. Thankfully Vashon has care from VIFR's Mobile Integrated Health Unit, Sea Mar is building a centrally located clinic, and Vashon Pharmacy provides walk in health care. Our tax dollars should be spent directly on services for residents, if not returned to taxpayers. Not spent on real estate, administrative costs, or large contracts to private companies who turn around and also bill residents. With large cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, health care is about to change dramatically. If elected, I will help VHCD support both Vashon's health and finances.

As a licensed clinical psychologist with 20 years’ experience, I’ve operated a successful private practice and worked in a variety of public health care settings. I understand the health care system’s complexities.
I am a mother of three grown children, two of them educated in Vashon schools. I want to give back this community, so I was honored when I was unanimously appointed to a vacant Health Care District commissioner seat in April 2025.
The District has done much to expand access to health care on Vashon: DispatchHealth urgent care, more behavioral health resources for children and youth, more services for vulnerable seniors. I want to build on that work. One big remaining unmet need: There are no resources on Vashon for mental health crisis intervention. These are services Vashon needs and deserves. I have the experience, skills, and passion to make progress on these issues. I’d appreciate your vote.
