My name is Rita J. Miller and I am seeking re-election to the position of Commissioner, Districct No 3. at Public Hospital District No. 1.  I was elected to this position two years ago to fill a vacancy.  My lifetime experience has prepared me for this role as I have a very strong medical background having been a nurse and nurse  educator for many years. After obtaining a Master's Degree in Nursing, I taught nursing at two different Schools of Nursing. While in this role, I obtained a PhD in Education and continued to be a nurse educator.  Being in the Hospital setting for many years, I learned the intricate details of how a hospital is run and what conflicts hospitals deal with.  Currently, Public Hospital District No. 1 is dealing with financial cuts from the government making it difficult to offer services that it has provided in the past. As a  current Commissioner, I am involved in the discussions and planning that deal with this sudden, unexpected financial deficit.

My hope in being re-elected to this position is to continue the work we are doing in order to offer the best medical care to our community.  It is my belief that all persons in the community deserve the care they need and are entitled to.  My goal is to contribute to the health and well-being of our  community that everyone deserves.  Humbly, I ask for your vote.
