Education: I graduated Vashon High School in '95 and Scripps College in '99
Occupation: Executive Director, Vashon HouseHold
Statement:

I’m running for reelection to the Vashon Island Fire & Rescue board because I care deeply about this island, our neighbors, and keeping our community safe.

Over the past few years, VIFR has grown stronger than ever — financially stable, fully staffed with dedicated professionals, and delivering top-quality emergency response and healthcare. I am proud to have supported staff as they have built solid partnerships across the community, managed taxpayer dollars carefully, and made sure our crews have the training and equipment they need to respond effectively.

Vashon is a special place. Protecting it takes more than just responding to emergencies. It takes planning ahead, working together, and making hard, complex decisions with the long-term health of our fire district in mind. I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and I’m committed to keeping VIFR strong, ready, and here for everyone who calls this island home.

Occupation: Telecommunications Engineer
Statement:

Thank you, Vashon neighbors and friends, for allowing me to serve you in VIFR uniform for 13 years, and for now considering my candidacy for VIFR Commissioner.

Since 2006, I have travelled with VIFR through lawsuits, fines, budget and leadership crises, lives not saved…while seeing responder careers launched, injuries treated, homes and lives saved, and my own baby delivered.

With that as my education, I offer this vision of how I can be a good Commissioner: at this moment, VIFR needs internal stability and external transparency. To establish these… I will listen with empathy to everyone. I will make every foundation of VIFR's success feel heard. Every taxpayer, every service recipient and community partner. Every responder – whether paid or volunteer. I will insist on clear standards. Where possible, VIFR effectiveness will be published regularly using objective, meaningful metrics to include cost/benefit ratios. I invite dialogue; I welcome your email.
