Statement:

My name is Martese Monroe, and I am running for South King Fire Commissioner because I believe in community-first leadership and responsible public service. I’ve lived in Federal Way since 2020 and work in finance, with a focus on strategic planning, financial analysis, and ensuring responsible use of resources. I bring a solid understanding of fiscal responsibility and transparent, trustworthy oversight-skills that are directly relevant to the work of a fire commissioner.

Earlier in my career, I founded a nonprofit that promoted youth volunteerism and community engagement, reflecting my deep commitment to service learning and giving back to the community. As a mother and firefighter’s spouse, I am committed to supporting families and understand the importance of safety, strong leadership, and responsive emergency services.

If elected, I will prioritize continued fiscal transparency, public-centered decision making, and ensuring South King Fire remains well-equipped to meet growing community needs. I am committed to listening, asking the right questions, and making thoughtful decisions that serve all residents of the district.

Our fire district is a vital part of our public safety system, and I would be honored to help guide its future with integrity and accountability.
