GENERAL 2025
Lake Washington School District No. 414
Director District No. 4
Aspen Richter

REDMOND, WA 98073

With three students attending Lake Washington School District and as a special education and highly capable education parent, I bring broad lived experience in our schools to this position. I have deeply and consistently engaged in the District, serving on three District advisory committees, two local school PTSAs, and the district-level Council PTSA. We need board directors with relevant, modern skills and “big picture” thinking. My combined STEM education and experience with software development, executive product management, and state legislative & regulatory processes match this need.
Changes to high school schedules, special education, highly capable education, and more have my family and others asking how their students will be supported. We must continue delivering an outstanding LWSD education to all students, even with tightening budgets and uncertain funding. Above all, I plan to ensure a Board that is responsive to and connecting with families and students.
Endorsed by the other four Lake Washington school director positions and by all three mayors in LWSD.
Endorsements include: State Senators Stanford, Wellman (Chair Early Learning & K-12 Education Committee); State Representatives Duerr, Thai; County Councilmember Balducci; 4 Mayors; 12 Kirkland, Redmond, and Sammamish Councilmembers; 1st, 41st, 45th, 48th LD, and King County Democrats.

Every child deserves access to enriching programs like art, music, and STEM. I’m running to ensure our schools secure the funding needed so every student has the opportunity to thrive. I will work to find and secure resources that support school programs, PTSA efforts, and key educational initiatives—so the burden doesn’t fall solely on families to fund these essential opportunities.
My family has called Sammamish home since 2017. I’m an active community volunteer at our local church and with the PTSA. As a parent, I’ve guided my child through co-op, private, homeschool, outdoor school, and public education—giving me a broad, informed perspective on what students and educators need to succeed.
With over 30 years of leadership experience in the hospitality industry and as a small business owner, I know how to manage budgets, solve problems, and work with diverse teams.
I will be a collaborative leader who listens, partners with families and educators, and strengthens our schools from the inside out. I will work hard for you—and be your most transparent, accountable leader on the board. Together, we can build a future where every student is supported and set up for success. I respectfully ask for your vote.
