GENERAL 2025
Highline School District No. 401
Director District No. 4
As your Highline School Board Director, I’m running to retain my seat because I believe in the power of education to unlock every student’s full potential. My life and professional experience have prepared me well to serve our schools.
I’m a proud public-school graduate, a first-generation college graduate, and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. I’ve worked in classrooms as an instructional assistant. I’ve earned a Ph. D and now teach at the University of Washington. I know what it means to overcome barriers, and I understand that high-quality instruction coupled with support is how students learn. Strong academics are critical, but not sufficient. As the mother of three current and future Highline students, I’m fully committed to schools where educators are supported to provide meaningful instruction and students have opportunities to grow and succeed.
Families and communities are at the heart of my work. I’m employed at a nonprofit serving families experiencing homelessness. I’ve organized alongside families to increase access to housing, education, and other essential resources.
I have the support of Highline educators. I ask for your vote. Together we can connect schools, families, and community resources to build schools that reflect the strengths and dreams of every student.
Every child deserves a thriving school environment grounded in academic excellence, where curiosity flourishes and every student is equipped for tomorrow. I’m running for Highline School Board to ensure that all students—mine and yours—are better prepared for the future.
As a product of vocational education, I’ve built a successful career by applying real-world skills. My family spans four generations in the Highline District, and I bring over 20 years of experience using that education in my own life. Whether students choose college, trades, or vocational training, they deserve every opportunity to succeed. Strong schools require strong communities. That’s why I advocate for community involvement from parents, local leaders, and educators.
I'v been a proud union member for most of my life, I’ve seen firsthand how unions support growth and opportunity. The real issue is poor leadership and misplaced priorities. Teachers are the heart of our schools, and they must have a voice in decisions affecting their classrooms, free from influence or censorship.
Most of your property tax goes toward schools—yet 80% of kids are falling behind. I’ll restore stability, raise academic standards, and support both teachers and families. Please help me help our children. Now’s their time. Vote Ken Kemp.
