Education: BA Education, MA Teaching Language Arts- NeIU, Certificate of Municipal Leadership- Assoc. of Washington Cities
Occupation: Educator, Deputy Mayor, Volunteer, Child/Youth Advocate, Life-long Learner, Grandmother
Statement:

As a former Chicago Public School teacher, a proud graduate of public schools, and daughter of public school teachers, I'm passionate about making sure every student has access to great public education. With bold, creative leadership, our schools can be places where every child feels inspired and is equipped to thrive.

The past 20 years, I've worked alongside neighbors to help make our five-city Highline community stronger. Whether serving as Mayor of Normandy Park, Deputy Mayor, Marvista PTSA President, or co-chairing Highline’s hospital ER fundraising with my husband and sons, I’ve always believed that real change happens through collaboration.

Highline is already doing some great things, with programs in Maritime, Aviation, dual-language learning, and new Health Professionals Pathways at Tyee. There is more we can do. Imagine adding a Reading Academy for students with dyslexia or a Welcome Academy to support newcomers transitioning to life in the U.S. Let's continue building strong programs that reflect our students needs.

Together we can strengthen science-based literacy, build civic pride, and expand career pathways. We can build a district that reflects the hopes, dreams, and high-quality services every Highline student and taxpayer deserves. I'd be honored to have your support and your vote.

Education: Bachelor’s in Education, Goddard College; Master's in Educational Leadership, Eastern Washington University
Occupation: Director, Student & Family Centered Improvement Initiatives
Statement:

As the daughter of migrant field workers, I grew up working in the fields alongside my parents, who dreamed that one day their children would have more opportunities than they did. Their belief in the power of education inspired me to earn a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s in Educational Leadership.

For over 20 years, I have served children and families as an educator, advocate, and leader because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to dream big and succeed.

My children attended Highline schools, and I am deeply connected with families who come to our community from all over the world. As a Highline parent, grandparent and current School Board Director, I am an advocate for strong public schools that serve every student.

As your School Board Director, I will continue working to: Ensure academic support that challenges every student, based on their individual strengths and needs; Strengthen early learning for all children; Build strong, inclusive partnerships with families and community; Use research-based practices to continuously improve the quality of education our schools provide. I am committed to fostering a Highline where schools are well-funded, teachers are supported, and every child’s potential is seen, nurtured, and celebrated.
