GENERAL 2025
Federal Way School District No. 210
Director District No. 4
Statement: I’m a 30-year resident of Federal Way. I've been an active volunteer in the FWPS district for over 15 years. My children attended school in the district for 13 years. I'm a U.S. Army veteran and have held careers in banking, mortgage lending, real estate, public health, and non-profits. I was appointed to the Federal Way Public School Board in October 2018, elected in 2019, and again in 2021, serving as Director of District #4 and Board Vice President.
While serving, I continued to advocate for scholars' rights to equity and inclusion, more opportunities to enroll in AP, IB, CTE, ROTC, Cambridge, STEM, arts, and athletics. I believe in and support educators and their commitment to teaching. Transparency is how we've maintained trust and partnerships with families and community members. With the oversight and approval of the school board, as well community members, the district has buillt 8 schools and rebuilt 2 stadiums. FWPS Board has earned the WSSDA Board of Distinction for the past 8 years because of its governance. K-12 schools are the launching pads to propel our scholars to success. Every child can learn. My job is to account for that in my district.
I am a resident of the Federal Way School District and patriarch of a family that includes both graduates and teachers from the Federal Way School system.
I am running for School Board director to serve and support our Federal Way students and their parents, their teachers and administrators, and the taxpayers who provide financial support for our school system.
I serve as Chair for the Bates Technical College Broadcasting and Video Production and Digital Media Advisory Board, and I have taught as an adjunct instructor at BTC.
I continue to serve as a Precinct Committee Officer in my local community to support and promote our free election process. Our K-12 Federal Way school system aims to maximize high school graduation rates and prepare students for higher education, careers in service or trades, and essential life skills, and I believe that with my leadership, we can improve on these goals. I believe our school board needs to operate openly, promoting parent and public attendance and participation. The school board meetings should be streamed live and recorded for public access.
