GENERAL 2025
City of Seattle
Council Position No. 9
Seattle needs Council leadership focused on urgent citywide priorities, not divisive, personal agendas. I’ll bring focus, collaboration, and experience to address housing affordability, support people in crisis, and keep our City safe and welcoming.
My commitment to outcomes that improve lives is rooted in my career as a City policy analyst, nonprofit executive, and social work educator. I’ve experienced the challenges facing too many families: working multiple jobs in high school and college, and benefitting from housing and healthcare programs to find stability for my family. I’ve worked citywide to advance housing and climate action and statewide to pass progressive revenue and fund affordable childcare. On City Council, I’ll fight for bold, progressive action to build a stronger Seattle.
We need more affordable homes in Seattle. I’ll prioritize getting people indoors with shelter, treatment, and permanent housing. I’ll end Council inaction that delays needed housing construction. I’ll promote homeownership, prevent displacement, and advance voter-approved social housing so all Seattleites have access to stable, affordable homes.
I’ve called 911 for both urgent and non-emergency situations. I want to ensure every call gets the right response. I’ll support effective, accountable policing, advance gender equity in law enforcement, and expand the CARE Department. I’ll invest in youth engagement, behavioral health, gun violence prevention, and community-driven safety solutions.
With your vote, I’ll stand up to Trump’s efforts to cut essential services and the attacks on the rights of our neighbors. I’ll fight for workers, reduce burdens on small businesses, and champion arts and culture. Together, we can build a fairer and more affordable Seattle.

Seattle, I hear you: you want faster action. I ran four years ago because I shared your frustration, watching neighbors suffer on our streets. In a city with resources like ours, there's no excuse for the slow pace of change we've seen. I'm pushing to break through the barriers that slow us down.
As a person in recovery myself, I'm expanding access to comprehensive, on-demand addiction treatment. I know the obstacles to getting sober, and I couldn't have done it without effective treatment and support. That's why I'm ensuring new public safety funding goes to drug treatment – so everyone has the resources I had. Public safety isn't just about hiring more cops, it's about addressing what's driving the crisis on our streets.
We've made real progress: reversing years of police officer losses, launching crisis response teams, and expanding shelter to move people inside faster. I fought entrenched business interests to deliver up to 1,000 units of workforce housing in downtown's Stadium District, and led permitting reforms to build homes faster at lower cost. But, $600 million in city housing funds still sit unused while people sleep on our sidewalks. That's unacceptable. I'm fighting to get that money working immediately for low-income residents. This is an emergency, and it must be treated as one.
Under Trump, Seattle doesn't need more empty promises. We need urgency. Whether it's housing affordability, public safety, or supporting working people, we can transform lives when we have leaders who stand up against the status quo.
With your vote, I'll keep driving forward momentum for a safer, more equitable Seattle.
Endorsements: The Seattle Times, Seattle Fire Fighters Union, Amalgamated Transit Union, Seattle Building Trades unions; Democratic leaders Congressman Adam Smith, Senate Majority Leader Jamie Pedersen, former Governors Chris Gregoire and Gary Locke; and many more.
