GENERAL 2025
City of Seattle
Council Position No. 8

Since my first day on Council, I’ve been a voice for progressive change and working people– leading the charge to fund union-built affordable housing, protect wages and benefits, and ensure our public safety system is accountable, appropriately staffed, and responsive. I’ve partnered with legislators to secure funding for programs that keep us safe and help people in crisis, and passed a transportation electrification package to meet our climate goals.
Under my leadership, Council’s new Federal Response Committee has taken action to protect Seattle. We’re working with regional and state partners to safeguard the rights of our neighbors. To prevent budget cuts, I brought workers, small business, the Mayor, and Council together to pass progressive tax policy that protects critical services.
Born to teenage parents caught in cycles of gang violence, substance use, and homelessness, I was able to thrive thanks to my grandparents, great teachers, and the Boys & Girls Club. This drives my commitment to building a Seattle where everyone can succeed, regardless of background or income.
I bring a collaborative, data-driven approach to policymaking centered on equity, compassion, and real-world impact. I’ve supported climate action through investments in sidewalks, transit, and green infrastructure, and am working to craft a balanced, progressive city budget that protects essential services.
We’ve made meaningful progress, but there’s more to do. I’m running to continue this work—advancing affordable housing, standing for workers, improving neighborhood safety, and safeguarding our civil rights. I’ll keep showing up, listening closely, and building coalitions to meet this moment with urgency and care. I would be honored to earn your continued support.
Endorsements: All Seattle Democratic Groups; MLK Labor Council and Union Locals; Alliance for Gun Responsibility; Planned Parenthood Alliance Advocates; OneAmerica Votes; LGBTQ+ Victory Fund; Congresswoman Jayapal; County Councilmembers and Legislators from every Seattle district—and more!

Since 2020, the constant presence and unpredictable nature of those suffering from addiction and mental illness has threatened the safety and harmed the dignity of everyone who lives, works and visits Seattle. As a business owner, I have suffered the negative effects first hand. I have seen how preventable street conditions destroy businesses, neighborhoods and our tax base. As a resident, I have had to contend with the ever increasing rent and cost of living.
As an addict with decades of recovery, I know that we can dramatically improve the quality of city life, if we change course on our treatment of the addicted and the mentally ill. As your city council member, I will amend and pass laws that offer a clear choice of jail or treatment to those committing crimes, and end the free apartments for active addicts policy. With the assistance of federal funding we can move quickly to abstinence based treatment and housing.
I will work to rebuild the police and the courts and return them to their proper roles of firmly moving the addicted towards change and rejoining society. I will work to create a state of the art system of residential care, away from our neighborhoods. I will close the wage versus rent gap by directly subsidising hard working minimum wage workers.
We can accomplish these goals with no new taxes. The federal government is offering cities the legal standing and funding for new programs and facilities. This funding is a lifeline for Seattle. We cannot afford to either lose funding or raise taxes on business. To accomplish these goals we must stop living in fear. I represent a movement of Seattle citizens who are unafraid. Who recognise that those who share our goal of safe, prosperous cities are our true friends. Vote Savage.
