GENERAL 2025
City of Seattle
Council District No. 2
I am running to ensure the Chinatown International District and South End have a strong voice in City Hall. Our community needs practical solutions for affordability, public safety, reducing homelessness, and supporting our public schools. I know folks are frustrated by City Hall’s lack of urgency, and I am too.
My top priorities are lowering housing costs and increasing housing options. As a lawyer for the Seattle Office of Housing, I’ve helped fund thousands of affordable homes for Seattleites, but I’m just getting started. As the Stranger said in their endorsement, “When it comes to housing, and building more of it, Lin knows his stuff.”
I’m proudly married to a public school teacher and we raised our kids on Beacon Hill. As the son of a Taiwanese immigrant, I’ve faced discrimination and will fight to defend immigrant and LGBTQIA+ communities. In college, I relied on financial aid and worked as a house painter and janitor. After moving to Seattle, I worked at a bakery, a bookstore, and as a bike messenger, and I know that one job should be enough.
With a city budget shortfall looming and chaos at the federal level, we need experienced, thoughtful leaders to deliver meaningful progress. I’ll tax wealthy corporations and the ultra-rich to fund our essential needs.
I believe in a comprehensive approach to public safety: investing in housing, social services, public schools, and community-based organizations that work closely with youth and families. I’ll scale up programs that bring social workers and mental-health professionals to more 911 calls, and insist upon increased police accountability and hiring more officers who come from, and serve, our diverse communities.
Endorsements: State Senators Rebecca Saldaña and Emily Alvarado, State Representative Velma Veloria (ret.), School Board President Gina Topp, The Stranger, The Urbanist, and many more at LinforSeattle.com.

As a lifelong Southeast Seattle neighbor, Union member, transportation expert, and community outreach leader - my roots run deep in District 2. I am running to make Southeast Seattle more affordable, safe, and welcoming for our children and families, advancing policies rooted in shared values of respect for diversity, belief in equity, and commitment to include everyone.
Together, we can: End Gun Violence by investing in family support, after-school enrichment, conflict resolution, and diversion programs; House the Unsheltered by funding services that prevent homelessness and bring people inside faster; Build Housing People Can Afford by creating and funding opportunities for homes that meets the needs of renters, workers, families, and seniors; Stop People from Speeding on Rainier Ave and MLK, and prioritize transit, pedestrian, and bike safety; Protect Our Rights by standing up against Trump.
I was raised in a Beacon Hill triplex by a single mom who worked two jobs. I worked at Jefferson Park Golf Course and for the SuperSonics as a ball boy. I know what it means to have stable, affordable housing for working families and will make housing my #1 priority.
I returned to college at age 30 through the Worker Retraining Program, and today live in Rainier Beach with my wife, a former public defender, and two daughters. In my role at the City I bring people together around critical policy investments including last year’s successful transportation levy. I am a community advocate for youth health and safety.
Endorsements: Democrats for Diversity and Inclusion, King County Young Democrats; Women of Color in Politics; ATU587 Transit Operators; Carpenters, Plumbers, Laborers and other Trades; Seattle Times; Councilmembers Solomon, Hollingsworth; Former State Representative Dawn Mason; Former County Councilmember Larry Gossett, more!
I would be honored to earn your vote and represent the city and district that raised me!
