GENERAL 2025
City of Renton
Council Position No. 6
Paul Dutton
6174 NE 3RD CT
RENTON, WA 98059
I'm stepping up because I understand that the status quo isn’t working. I want to build a safe, accessible, and inclusive Renton where all residents have access to the resources they need to thrive. Renton is growing quickly, and we are leaving too many of our working families, small businesses, seniors, immigrants, and LGBTQIA+ neighbors behind.
My family has called Renton home since 2006. As a 25-year Professional Engineer, I’ve worked on Discovery Channel sized projects from roads to light rail to tunnels. I understand what it takes to solve problems and make people’s lives better. Listening to community, I'll use my expertise to address safety, affordability, housing, and transit issues in the city I love.
I’m a PTA dad, former Scout Leader, Rotarian, and endorsed by King County Democrats, Transit Riders Union, Washington State Progressive Caucus, and many others. Together, we can build the future Renton we all deserve.

Renton welcomed me as a Latina immigrant and I’ve been blessed to serve you as Councilmember since 2014. My years of experience in government and community advocacy have helped me get things done on issues that matter. Public safety, transportation, the environment, and human services impact all of us every day. Your safety is my top priority. I’ve supported adding well trained police officers, body cameras, and mental health responders to keep us safe. I’ve championed regional funding for parks, trails, senior services, and transportation. As King County and Washington State mandate more growth I’ve listened to your concerns, pushed for smart, cost-effective local planning, and fought for Renton’s fair share of resources. I would be honored to continue serving Renton.
Endorsements: Congressman Adam Smith, Rep. Steve Bergquist, Mayor Armondo Pavone, Councilmembers Prince, O’Halloran, McIrvin, Alberson; Former Mayors Denis Law and Kathy Keolker; MLK Labor; King County Democrats, and more.
