GENERAL 2025
City of Renton
Council Position No. 2
Carmen Rivera

As a lifelong Renton resident, educator, and former case manager, I’m running for re-election because our families deserve a city that is safe, affordable, and accountable.
I was the first Councilmember to support raising Renton’s minimum wage, ensuring workers can have jobs with better pay. I’ve led efforts to invest in youth violence prevention, expand access to mental and behavioral health supports, and rebuild trust between our community and law enforcement through co-responder partnerships. As the only Councilmember with direct social service experience, I know how systems fail and where they must be strengthened. I fight for working families, small businesses, and neighborhoods with safe housing for all.
I’m the only candidate in this race endorsed by King County Democrats and labor unions. I bring lived experience, progressive values, and a record of action. Renton deserves leaders who show up, listen, and deliver. I’d be grateful to earn your vote.
Renton deserves practical leadership rooted in community, not party lines. I'm a three-time Renton Volunteer of the Year, former Renton Arts Commissioner, and a proud advocate for our city. Through years of public and customer service, I've learned the power of listening, creative problem-solving, and helping others.
My support comes directly from neighbors, local leaders, and those invested in Renton’s future. I show up, listen, and understand what matters most to the people who live and work here. I’m committed to strengthening community connections, supporting thoughtful growth, and finding practical solutions that reflect Renton's diverse needs. My priorities include public safety, supporting small businesses, accessible recreation, and community-centered decision-making that brings more voices to the table.
Endorsed by Mayor Pavone, former Mayor Denis Law, many current and past councilmembers, small business owners, and a growing number of community members. I’d be honored to earn your vote.
