GENERAL 2025
City of Kent
Council Position No. 6
As a lifelong Kent resident, my commitment is deeply personal. I attended Kent schools and now raise my son in the community where I grew up. My family has owned a local business for over two decades, giving me a direct understanding of the financial pressures families and businesses face. I’m ready to help shape a growing, thriving Kent where everyone can feel secure and succeed.
As Director of King County Policy for a Seattle-based nonprofit, I've spent my career turning advocacy into action—building partnerships, securing resources, and managing budgets to keep vital programs running. I’ve navigated complex challenges to ensure essential services continue. My service on local nonprofit and foundation boards has given me a close-up view of our community’s needs and the collaborative leadership it takes to meet them.
My priorities include building safe neighborhoods and parks, addressing the root causes of crime and homelessness, supporting local businesses, and expanding family-centered programs that provide access to essential resources. Together, we can ensure Kent remains a sustainable, vibrant city for future generations.
Proudly endorsed by Kent Councilmembers Brenda Fincher, John Boyd, and Satwinder Kaur; former Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke; Senator Karen Keiser; and numerous other local leaders and organizations.
I’m running for Kent City Council because our city deserves leadership that listens, leads with facts, and puts people before politics. As a college professor, small business owner, mental health therapist, and current Kent School Board Director, I’ve built a career around problem-solving, accountability, and common sense solutions.
I grew up in a working-class, military family, raised by a single mom who worked multiple union backed jobs. To put myself through college, I worked multiple jobs and now lead a company that provides mental and behavioral health services. I’ve seen how government can either lift people up or get in the way, and I believe in doing what works, not just what’s popular.
Public safety, fiscal responsibility, and making Kent a place where families can thrive are my top priorities. I will work hard to make our city is safe, our tax dollars are spent wisely, and every resident is heard. I’m not here to play politics. I’m here to serve with integrity and results.
The future of Kent should be shaped by leaders who are reasonable, experienced, and ready to work. I would be honored to earn your vote. Read more about my ideas at andy4kent.com.
