Statement:

Des Moines is a wonderful, unique city where I and my family have lived for nearly 30 years and in early childhood. The beaches, small businesses, history, nature, wildlife and people make this place special. I believe community, TLC, public safety, and caring for our environment and wildlife will keep Des Moines thriving.

I’m passionate about protecting our environment, from tree canopy, to salmon streams, to outdoor recreation and sustainable transportation. I served on the 2023 Citizens Advisory Committee, helped create a City Proclamation recognizing the Southern Resident Orcas, fought to protect historic landmarks, forests, public recreation spaces, return of our public planning commission and would like to see improved transportation options like increased shuttle service.

I’m a graduate of the UW, and experienced science educator. I believe thoughtful, transparent leadership that balances budgets, prioritizes essential services, and safeguards the environment will keep Des Moines thriving and wild at heart!

Occupation: Founder and past-President, IVYX Scientific; VP, Des Moines Legacy Foundation
Statement:

As a scientist, entrepreneur, and father of two, I am passionate about building a stronger future for our city. I am the founder of IVYX Scientific, a company serving the global scientific community, and want to bring my experience and fresh perspective to City Hall.

Nearly a quarter of our residents are under 18, yet young families are underrepresented in city leadership today. I will advocate for more parks, playgrounds, sports fields and after-school programs - building a safe city where families can thrive.

Our budget challenges are serious. City reserves have been cut in half. The best way to restore financial stability and expand essential services, without raising taxes, is through smart economic growth throughout the city, revitalizing our waterfront and capturing more opportunities from the airport. I will push for accessible financial information, better online services, and more community engagement. I’d be honored to earn your vote.
