We will succeed when city leaders listen. You spoke twice last year on Proposition 1. I heard you. Both times. As your elected servant, I didn’t scold you or suggest you were uneducated. You’re right to be upset with those who did.

You didn’t buy a council bailout disguised as a public safety measure. You recognized that wasteful spending is the biggest threat to public safety and fiscal stability. Crisis budgeting has cost us 25 years of missed opportunities and stagnated economic growth. 

You elected me to help end this cycle of lurching between prosperity and insolvency. But it will take at least four votes on the council to do that. Your vote is crucial. We can change course this year if you elect people who rely on sound reasoning rather than whim. I humbly ask for your vote, and for leadership that respects both your voice and your intelligence.
