GENERAL 2025
City of Bellevue
Council Position No. 4
Bellevue is beautiful. We value education, safety, innovation, equity, and kindness, but the federal government is interrupting progress and threatening our values at a time when we have an affordability crisis preventing young families, teachers, officers, elderly and workers from living here.
That’s why we must replace conservatives in local government with leaders willing to step up and protect our values, and with larger-than-local scale experience to take decisive actions. I’m a former US diplomat. I started my government career in the Clinton administration. I negotiated trade deals, championed environmental and human rights, built programs that created hundreds of thousands of jobs, and got results. Now I’m Chairperson of Bellevue College, appointed by Governor Inslee. I’m also CEO of a start-up technology company creating jobs and opportunities in Bellevue.
I will fight for: better infrastructure to quickly move people while reducing traffic; housing to enable the next generation to live in Bellevue while protecting green spaces, climate, livability, walkability, and bikeability; Job growth, businesses, and workforce training. We need to be accountable for results not just good intentions. Let’s build.
Endorsements: Governor Gary Locke, King County Democrats, National Women’s Political Caucus, Alliance for Gun Responsibility, Senator Slatter, more.
It’s been an honor to serve you on the Bellevue City Council for the past eight years. I’ve stayed focused on what matters most: public safety, thoughtful growth, affordability, and economic opportunity.
I led efforts to fully fund our police department, establish Bellevue’s transit police unit, and launch the Keep Bellevue Beautiful initiative to tackle graffiti, litter, and abandoned shopping carts. I’ve also served as a regional voice in the fight against antisemitism, championed Bellevue’s Environmental Stewardship Plan, and advocated for innovative housing solutions that protect affordability while preserving neighborhood character.
Bellevue is growing rapidly, and that growth must reflect our shared values, not compromise them. Now more than ever, we need experienced, proven leadership with a clear focus on Bellevue’s priorities, not the agendas of outside interests. I’m committed to safeguarding our neighborhoods, improving mobility, enhancing our quality of life, and ensuring Bellevue remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
I’m honored to be endorsed by Bellevue Firefighters, Bellevue Police Officers, Eastside Business Alliance, Chinese Radio Seattle, LiUNA 242, Bellevue Councilmembers, and many other organizations and leaders across the political spectrum. I respectfully ask for your vote to continue serving and delivering for our community.
