Education: University of Washington: BA, MA Policy Studies; Harvard Business School Certificate in Global Business
Occupation: Port of Seattle Commissioner and City of Seattle Department Director
Statement:

As Port Commissioner since 2021, I have taken on key leadership roles, including Commission President and Audit Committee Chair. Raised in a working-class family by a truck driver and an airport worker, I understand how Port decisions affect daily life, from job access to how goods reach our communities. I remain focused on transparency, results, and putting people first.

Jobs and Training: I have helped double investments in workforce development, including leading Maritime Youth Career Launch, a $4 million program preparing youth for maritime careers. I also advanced the Maritime Innovation Center, a hub that will drive job training, entrepreneurship, and the blue economy, creating future opportunities for startups and businesses.

Economic Development: I approved a record $5.6 billion Capital Improvement Plan, creating jobs and boosting contracts for local businesses. I secured $7.1 million to improve the airport experience for travelers and workers. I remain committed to terminal upgrades, supporting cargo growth, and strengthening the Port’s role in regional business development.

Environmental Justice: I sponsored the directive securing permanent protection for North SeaTac Park’s green spaces and cosponsored the first shore power mandate for cruise ships, slashing emissions by 80 percent. I also led a $5 million home soundproofing program to reduce airport noise. These communities carry the burden of a regional airport and deserve meaningful support, which is why, in partnership with Senator Patty Murray, we secured federal funding to expand this work.

In my next term, I will focus on supporting small businesses, creating family-wage jobs, expanding access to trade and transportation, and holding the Port accountable to the people it serves. I hope to earn your vote!

Endorsements: All Port of Seattle Commissioners, Governor Ferguson, Attorney General Brown, Commissioner Upthegrove, Treasurer Pellicciotti, Members of Congress, local mayors, councilmembers, and unions including SEIU6, IBEW46, and Machinists 751.
